Bring on the ATLAS MOUNTAIN RACE 2024
Well its been almost 10 months since I had to scratch from the Atlas Mountain Race …. but in hindsight, I was not only on the wrong bike with the wrong gearing and this was my first ever (deep end) attempt at an Ultra BikePacking Race, but also I was unprepared for just how hard it was going to be. The down to -10 degrees did not help on the first night, and neither did my asthma.
But, this year (or next Feb) I am more prepared. Ive invested in a much more suitable MTB , Im supported again by the fantastic equipment of Tailfin which is just awesome, and Ive also got great tyres, equipment and saddles from WTB (Wilderness Trail Bikes). I cant really ask for more.
Additionally in 2024 I am already planning a truely EPIC journey … even the planning of it is scaring me, so watch this space.
Its so epic that I really need to consider a Charity to raise funds for as I think I can easily top the £10,000 mark. Ive already got a Charity in mind, but wanting to work with a Charity that deserves the effort and will equally support the promotion of my trip .
Please watch this space … the 1924 mile Stalag IVB Ride will just seem like a warm up 🙂
