It was really great chatting to Tom from Spill The Watts podcast.
An hour and a half covering a whole range of subjects ….. give it a listen HERE
Tom’s introduction:
“Not the “usual” guest – but to be fair there is no “usual” in cycling.
Many folk in the UK cycling community will known Rich.
He is self proclaimed “probably the most famous sh*t rider”. 😅
The 63 year old pedal smasher is a prominent name in the hill climbing community, but also well known for his organisation of brilliant events (Tickhill GP).
I haven’t formally known Rich for very long at all, but I have certainly “heard of” his name long before that – many can vouch he is a fantastic guy and follows a very inspiring “go out and get it” type of personality.
Alongside that though, he also has a great way of showcasing himself to sponsors, and has been able to gather some fantastic brands for his big cycling adventures and performances.
In this podcast, expect to get to know the man behind the legend, who “Rapid” really is.
You will hear about his 2 attempts (and failures) at the ATLAS mountain race which is a 1300km race starting in Marrakesh with 21,140m of climbing.
You will also hear about how he generally gets sponsors, learning how to target companies – but also WHY do you need sponsorships.
We will also hear about Rich’s experiences organising the Tickhill GP, and what made it such a good event.
You’ll also get to hear Rich’s honest opinions on why certain riders make excuses and believe far too much that exact training or nutrition supplements (gels etc) are the key to performance when in reality they just do not push themselves anywhere near their limits.
Rich has some strong opinions, but I know everyone can vouch for me that knows him he is such a great guy.
This is going to be a great listen.”
