I’m going on a bike journey……. and it’s a long long way!!
This is a rough first draft of my X – USA solo cycle ride. New York to San Francisco (Mill Valley CA actually) .. Bicycle – not motorcycle !
Going to be riding off road and utilising as many trails and tracks as possible and will also maybe make it more wiggly as I want to top 5000 miles if I can. Im also riding EAST to WEST !!
I will be raising money for a Charity too, as it would be wrong not to, but not decided what Charity yet.
But the whole reason for the ride was to ‘nip in for a brew and say thank you’ in person at WTB (Wilderness Trail Bikes) head office for sponsoring me with their fantastic Tyres and Saddles and Tubeless products.
I just didn’t realise their HO was in San Fransisco 😂😂
I’m dead excited and any one who can help with any advice on specific routes, trails or tracks, I’d appreciate your help.
This epic trip is the reason GOREWEAR decided to support me as I’m sure I will be seeing every single different sort of weather that the US can throw at me. I’m actually looking forward to being properly protected, and as you know, I couldn’t have wished for a better brand. 👌
I will be mainly staying in Motels and some camping and it’s a marathon not a sprint, so I’m aiming on about 10 to 12 weeks, not get burnt out and enjoy what USA has to offer.
I’m going solo and unsupported, so everything I need I will carry and again I will be using the brilliant Tailfin Technical BikePacking Equipment, as it is second to none !
I will have to arrange some servicing and if it’s 5000 miles I may even need to organise replacement tyres, chain, brakes etc along the way as well as sending forward some of my medical equipment I use as I can’t carry 2 month supply.
Whatever, it’s going to be an EPIC journey, and I invite you to share it with me…. Not ride with me, just give me a bit of support.!
